A few days ago, on the 20th, I introduced you to July's Paper Pumpkin Kit. What a fun and versatile kit, right?! I decided to make one alternate card...I should have made more but I was pressed for time. I got the idea from the flyer that Stampin' UP! included in the July Kit. It has three alternate cards on it. I chose to do something similar to the Nautical Thank you card.
Here is the card I made and the Paper Pumpkin alternative below...I circled it for you even though I'm pretty sure you can spot which one I copied, ha!
These are fantastic alternative ideas that can be made using the kit....but also can be made if you only have the refill! And luckily for us the refills are currently available! This doesn't always happen if the kits are sold out, there are no refills. When kits do not sell out then refills are available until the supply runs out. Now kit refills do not contain the stamp sets or the ink, which is a bummer, but everything else is included. And fortunately this kit coordinates with three current suites in the annual catalog, so you don't need the stamp set to complete it!
To complete the alternative card that I made I decided not to go with the watercolor background. Instead I used the large watercolor-ish looking stamp from the Love What you Do stamp set. It worked perfectly for what I wanted. I stamped it in Night of Navy ink once full strength and then stamped again immediately without re-inking it. That is what made the two tone Night of Navy background on the 4 1/2in x 3 14in piece of Whisper White Card Stock that I adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals onto the Mossy Meadow striped card base. I also stamped the seashell from the kit twice, once in Night of Navy on Balmy Blue Card Stock and once in Crumb Cake on Whisper White Card Stock. After they were stamped I fussy cut them out....if you are not familiar, fussy cutting is cutting by hand. I stamped the "Thanks" sentiment in Night of Navy as well. I cut a small strip of Come Sail Away designer series Paper 4in. x 1/4in. and that is what runs diagonal across the stamped Whisper White Card Stock. I stamped the seagulls in the background using Memento ink. I adhered the die cut ship's wheel flat and used Stampin' Dimensionals for the Thanks piece and the sea shells. Lastly I made a small bow from the Linen Thread and adhered it with a glue dot.
I promise the process of making the alternate card is easy once you have all of your supplies ready.
Here are the rest of the supplies needed to complete this project:
